The Dane Foundation Donates VEST after theft
The Dane Foundation was able to provide a $16,000 Vest machine to Steve Herceg today. Steve, a man with severe disabilities, was the victim of theft when someone STOLE his breathing machine on Monday. "We had the opportunity to donate the machine to The Dane Foundation, and subsequently to Steve, thanks to Dane," Patty Moser, Board member and Dane's mom said.
Dane utilized this machine on a daily basis and when he passed two years ago, the machine was donated to The Dane Foundation's Donation Central stock. Today, Steve was the beneficiary of that life saving machine.
I knew how Steve's father Frank felt when I saw him on the news," Phil Moser, Dane's father said. "While Dane was never a victim of theft, as a parent of a child with disabilities, I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to help your son when he needs something that is truly life saving," Moser said. "Patty and I were so glad we had The Vest available and that we are able to share this equipment in Dane's honor," he said.
The Dane Foundation has provided many such pieces of equipment to individuals with disabilities including a wheelchair lift, specialized car seat, and stroller. "While we don't always have this equipment on hand, we can usually assist with finding a used piece of equipment or at least provide some resources to the families or individuals to assist them," Lowery Lockard, Dane Foundation President said.
"We are only able to offer these kinds of supports because of the continual donations from corporate and private donors," Lockard said. "We are always open to donations of equipment, new clothing, personal care items, household and cleaning supplies and, of course, CASH to help the Foundation operate and serve as many as we can," she said.
