The Dane Foundation was named in honor of a unique young man...celebrating his life and sharing his inspiration.
Dane Edward Moser was born in 1984 and, although his tiny face looked perfect, it didn’t take long to discover Dane had multiple disabilities. Dane’s cerebral palsy soon affected every part of his life, including his ability to grow and prosper like other children.
In 1998, Dane came to live with the Moser family in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Dane formed an immediate and special bond with the Mosers. They knew that Dane was supposed to be in their family. Dane was adopted by the Mosers and became a permanent member of their family in 2002.
Dane has a radiant personality that brightens the world. His smile says a thousand words, even though his voice cannot. His sense of humor and understanding is evident the moment you meet him. No means “no” when he sticks out his tongue, and “yes” is always understood by the smile and kicking feet. Flirting is amazingly obvious for this young man...no words need to be spoken!
Dane represents the successes we all hope to have in our lives. His story is that of a young man who has overcome obstacles so he can serve as an advocate and inspiration for others. He offers hope that, despite any obstacle, you too can face challenges head on, overcome the adversities of life, and survive to change lives, hearts, and minds. All we need is help, encouragement and understanding.

Dane has played an intregal part in The Dane Foundation's public awareness activities. As a spokesperson for the organization, Dane was a visible tribute to individuals with disabilities in our community and the successes that they can experience.
At 23, Dane went to be with God on August 30, 2009. While he will be sadly missed here on earth, we know that his spirit, his smile, and his determination to make everyone understand and accept, will continue to serve as our motivation to make a difference.
